A week away

So we are a week away... well a week and a day and I have to thank every single sponsor that has helped so far, today on the to do list is to update the sponsors on this site, I have to ship out some things to some great friends, I have to bag and put stickers on all the prizes and silent auction items, I have to write out all the cupcake tabs and that's just with Cupcake Camp lets not forget that I have 2 kids and a house and that my boyfriend is on a mini vacation this week to watch his favorite team play one of their biggest rivals... whew that just sounds like a lot.... so in a short sentence this page should be up to date by tonight :)

2 weeks to go :)

I have decided that next year I am going to have to have a blogger and Tweeter because I am not very good at this, I will try harder next year I promise but until then I will try a lil harder this year as well :( We have had such amazing luck with all the beautiful donations we have added ourselves to the events pages in both the Tallahassee Democrat and the Tallahassee Grapevine :) We have made our flyers as you can see! and also have our registration forms for anyone who is interested :)

Another Adventure :)

This week my kids start school this is another adventure of my life, with Cupcake Camp, a two year old birthday party to plan, and 2 kids in school this year I have my hands pretty full, but I am trying my best to update as much as possible. I am amazed to see the growing support of Cupcake Camp Tallahassee, and I am hoping that it continues to grow to an annual event in which we can help the foundation for many years to come. Today my daughter reminded me of a very interesting lesson. She was upset today while we were shoe shopping because none of the 3 shoes she wanted were in her size, I impatiently rolled my eyes and said, Jailyn (that's my princesses name) that enough after about 5 minutes of whining I told her it wasn't that big of a deal and that it wasn't a huge problem like she was making it out to be. She just looked at me and tears started to fall. She said but mom "it is a big deal TO ME".... and it was she was nervous about school she was nervous about her friends and her life and she had no control of anything and the one things that she felt she would have control over was the shoes she wanted to wear. I understood perfectly I understood because I have felt like that. It is one of the reasons I am organizing Cupcake Camp Tallahassee and donating to the Jessica June's Children's Cancer Foundation, because sometimes in life we can go about our own business and just ignore some of the world around us. We can forget that sometimes people really just need help they need someone to basically tell them it's gonna be ok. To give 5 minutes of their day to think of someone else and not wonder in what way it is going to affect them. Sometime I wonder what would happen if everyone pick just one person to help.... on a side note... after 2 other stores we finally found the perfect shoes.

Excited

I can't believe how close this event actually is, only 2 months away :) I am so excited i can't even express myself! we have been so lucky so far, and even thought we have a long way to go it's moving smoothly, in 2 weeks we should have our fliers and also we should have a place to order shirts :) we have added a donate button so DONATE!!! it's for a good cause. When I first met Ms Sandra I couldn'e help but look up to her, she is amazing and in a time where soo many mother's would have gone insane, she turned her life upside down after losing her daughter and set up a foundation to truely help her community. She is an amazing individual and I am so very proud to have met her and continue to work with her :)

Very Happy

I am so excited about our 4 newest donations, one of my absolutely favorite bloggers, Natalie Slater, writer for Bake and Destroy! is donating from her company (which I am so embarrassed to say I did not know she had, but am now obsessed with, no really I already have a wish list) she has graciously donating a gift card and a very amazing (awesomely Awesome) Cupcake Bag, go check out her blog asap www.reuseit.com... Ok it's Crunch time :)

I would like to apologize for not keeping up with the blog :).. But I will do my very very very best to work on it, we have updated the contest and we are hoping we get a lot of interest in the new and improved contest :)

Cupcake Camp Tallahassee 1. There will be a general contest for overall most awesomest cupcake, you can enter it in either the professional category or the amateur (you do not need to own your own business to join the professional category, but if you own your own business in cakes you CAN NOT enter in the amateur category... be fair )

2. There will be 2 Kids Competitions, they are based on just the decor of the cupcakes (do not let your 3 year old bake alone...it could be bad ;)) one if for ages 5-9 and the other is for ages 10-13.

Now for the FUN contest (anyone can enter these and you can enter into as many as you would like :) )

1. Character Cupcakes (cupcakes that LOOK like something else, NOT CAKELETS) I will post examples on the page .

2. Favorite Drink Cupcakes ( examples: Ice Tea cupcakes, lemonade cupcakes, coca cola cupcakes, etc)

3. Favorite Breakfast Food Cupcake ( examples: cinnamon roll cupcake, pancake cupcakes, Fruit Loop cupcakes... remember the cupcakes do not HAVE to contain the items they just have to be a representation of the flavors)

4. Autumn Flavor Cupcakes :) Get creative!!!!

Sorry!

It has been way too long since I have updated this! My apologies... well basically i have been a lil lax on things because I have a few personal things that I have been squaring away, but I'm BACK! we have a venue! The Cabot Lodge was graciously donated by a good friend of mine! Thank you Angie! also we have reached 100 fans on Facebook... we are at 102 actually!!!!!!!!!! We have chosen our foundation which we hope to work with for many years to come! Jessica June's Children's Cancer Foundation! we are soo honored to be working with such an amazing foundation! they are truly amazing! I am still working on the fliers because i am no artist lol.. but i have a few tricks up my sleeve! we will be unveiling them hopefully this week! I have been trying about at least a gazillion different cupcake recipes! to find the perfect one! In honor of Miss Jessica June we are making a double Fudge cupcake with blue marshmallow buttercream frosting sprinkled with yellow cast sugar. Also soo excited that a friend of mine will be opening a new bakery in Tallahassee within the next 20 days! very proud of Bite of your Life!

What a day what a day!

First I would like to thank sooo many people out there for being soo supportive, second I have come to the conclusion that people who like cupcakes are the most supportive and amazing people ever! lol... with that being said we received 4 more donations, one being from an amazing person Cynthia from cupcakeprovacateur.com, another from the Grey Fox and The Cottage here in town they donated a total of SIX Vera Bradley bags!!!!!!!! I am in awe and soo very grateful... i hope this keeps me nice and busy so that while my two oldest kids are away with their dad I am not here crying my eyes out... more news tomorrow... I hope... oh and btw we are at 70 fans!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am soo sorry it has taken soo long to give an update.... I am EXHAUSTED we have been so blessed in our donations! we have received 14 so far and that is amazing to me I am soo very grateful! we have had amazing support! and for that I am so grateful! I have to be more particular about the donations that we are in need of because we have had such an overwhelming response! I have to get a few thingsin order though I have to finish the fliers and have them printed and shipped asap!

Big News!

We received an email so that we can meet with the founder of Jessica June's Children's Cancer Foundation! We will be meeting with her June 14th! so excited, (even if it's a 8 hour drive!) Also an AMAZING thing happened, I emailed Cupcake Rehab, and she was the sweetest person ever although she was not able to donate anything she did give me some great references... one TOPSTITCH will be making a wonderful donation, and then another great thing happened they helped us even more by putting us on their blog! so thank you! soo very much to some amazing cupcake lovers we look forward to growing a great relationship with you!

Another amazing Day!

I am in shock to be honest, when I first started this project I thought if I got one donation I would be happy... so far I have gotten 8... that is a HUGE deal for me... today I received three amazing emails... so a special thanks goes out to Bangerang Cake shop for donating some cupcakes and gift cards... To cupcake Wrapture for donating 12 awesome packs of cupcake wrappers and of course to one of my favorite sites EVER...acupcakery.com... thank you all so much words escape me as i get more and more excited to be able to see everything coming together for such an amazing cause... now on a side note... we received our Apron from Carolynskitchen.com online today and it is even cuter in person... seriously so beautiful! I am still working on the venue and setting the exact date... trying to get more followers and also still trying to gather support! I am on the lookout for someone in our area who would be able to donate finger foods, milk and waters. ....oh I almost forgot! I have finally made up my mind on the cucpcake competitions... drum roll please...

Well I was on my way to post the awesome news that we got another donation... I was soo excited and then my little light telling me I got a new gmail message came up... well well who could it be... No way ANOTHER donation... so a round of applause goes to Jessie at Cakespy.com for donating some awesome notecards with the cutest lil cuppie on them! And a huge thank you and applause is in order for Courtney at Boredinc.com... for donating random cupcake items from their very cute and also very amazing shop! So Amazed

WOW! I must say that I am soo amazed, we received another donation today and I am soo excited! I am soo happy to feel like this is all coming together for such a good cause! divaentertains.com is going to be donating a faux cupcake holder sooo cute I loved it everything she makes is soo cute... :) I was so happy about it! So now it's just securing the venue for the date and time, and of course getting everything organized lol... thank god for the amount of support I have received... My friends and family are really supportive of my the event... I am also juggling work family life and of course planning my babies 2nd birthday! Well somewhere in there I need to make a little visit to my best friend before she moves...! oh well at least time will be going by very quickly!

Another Awesome Donation

I was suppose to post this last night but I was out with my kiddos and then I came home early cause I was not feeling well, with all intentions to take a short nap and get to work on CCCT, I layed down in my very comfortable bed, and it is now 6:30 am and I just rolled out of bed... So anyways, I received an email from the foundation we want to donate to :) We are hoping to meet with the founder soon, so that we can officially say that we are donating to them, and we can share their amazing story with all of our fans... which is at the moment 27, on Facebook. I continue to request donations every day:) which is a great thing cause I figure for every hundred I send there is one awesome donation received! Bringing us to today's post! Carolyn's Kitchen Online who makes the cutest Aprons EVER has agreed to donate one cupcake vintage apron... and I will be bidding on it because it is soooo cute! I have even set up a whole space in the guest closet just for Cupcake Camp stuff and today I am off to look for a venue! wish me luck...:0)

Practicing Patience

I am by nature not a patient person so this is teaching me how to be just a lil more patient. Going to be working on my t-shirt and poster design today and then it's a night off for Grey's ( my other obsession besides Cupcakes...lol) still on the lookout for a great venue.. hoping to be able to hold it partly outside... which is great because Tallahassee is beautiful during October!!! End of day 1

Well i feel pretty productive today... I received the email I had been waiting for in response to the foundation that we are hoping to be able to donate to, if not, we do have a Plan B but Erika (for whose brother who passed away from cancer, we are doing this in name of... and of course my loving uncle who passed away Jan. 2005) and I are really hoping to give to Jessica June Children's Cancer Foundation! we have to wait for the official okay to be able to use their story and all for our camp! I emailed 15 different locations hoping to get any type of donation... but like usual I am prepared for the worse... so for tonight I think i am done... well besides of course that list of things that I am going through in my head that =I want to do... that must stem from being a mommy! oh I almost forgot we have already received 2 donations... and hopefully will have a venue set by Sat! Wish me luck!

The Start of an Adventure!

So one day as I was scrolling online... typical evening for me after babies are in bed... I run into Cupcake Camp Seattle.... ahhhhhhh... (music sound effects in head) ohhhhhh I need to be there! Because I like soooo many other people love cupcakes.... and cake... and people... and events... and fun things... and well you get the point... so I called my buddy who also shares the same scary cupcake obsession with me, to join me in this awesomeness... well of course because I have as much luck as a fat turkey during Thanksgiving, this day would not work for her! I couldn't go alone cause it is VERY VERY far from Tallahassee! So then it dawned on me! Duh we could make our own Cupcake Camp right here in town... the glitch is that we live 6 hours from each other... not that we thought about that at the moment... So off we went to plan plan plan! In the end she was able to pull off an awesome 1st Annual Cupcake Camp Fort Myers and I helped as much as possible. Seeing as she is incredible, and like superwoman, with better cooking skills it wasn't like I was much help. And now the time has arrived for the 1st Annual CUPCAKE CAMP TALLAHASSEE!.. (well eta Oct.16, 2010) so i am going to need to vent to this blog when things just don't go as planned and when I just need to share with the world something exciting... even if no one else is listening... :)
